Reading Corner

These were just an excuse to mention important and/or beautifully written books, and to imagine interiors in which I’d like to live. I wanted to illustrate people who are interested in reading about different lived experiences than their own, as I think that’s how you develop empathy. So they’re all reading a book written by someone from a different ethnic group (or religion) to them.

The illustrations are all available to buy as prints on my shop.

Book in image 1: The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

Book in image 2: Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge.

Book in image 3: How to Be Both by Ali Smith.

Book in image 4: In Spite of Oceans: Migrant Voices by Huma Qureshi.

Book in image 5: Don’t Touch My Hair by Emma Dabiri.

Drawn for pleasure.
