Head held high

Based on a photo by Louise Dahl-Wolfe, the influential fashion and portrait photographer who helped define the image of the modern, independant woman. Born in 1895 and married in 1928, I find it amazing that she kept her maiden name (Dahl) and hyphenated her husband’s surname to it. Must have been seen as a rebellious act at the time... and it often still is.

Drawn for pleasure.
